Telemedicine was established in 1996 at U C Davis, Sacramento. U C Davis began seeking technological solutions to improve health care in rural communities. Today U C Davis partners with many community hospitals and clinics throughout California to provide residents and their physicians with access to specialized medical care and education through the use of telecommunications technology.
Telemedicine works by using high-speed data lines linked to video units at the UC Davis Medical Center and Tule River Indian Health Clinic, our physicians and patients can have a live interactive consultation with a U C Davis specialist by simply dialing him or her up on video.
Telemedicine is a way for our patients who might have transportation challenges or a specific condition where time is of the essences. Telemedicine is the answer to seeing a specialist who can assist in the diagnosis and best possible treatment plan for the patient.
